The Wild Atlantic Way ~ Slea-Head Drive

We started on the Dingle Pennisula to drive the Slea Head Drive,
part of the Wild Atlantic Way.
Just got going and then stopped at this leather crafting shop.

Fabulous work!

What craftsmen!

Jan bought a new purse.
Gorgeous!
Holden Leatherwork.

Saw this hammered dulcimer in a shop.
Wished I could bring it home for Jeff

Some of the buildings are made completely of stone, roof and all!

Of course there are sheep everywhere

And fabulous calla lilys!

The coast is spectacular!

With old stone buildings.
Some a in disrepair but
Many are still in use.

A beehive

We could see inside this one.

The spectacular coast

The water was cold.

Checking out the barnacles and where the tide comes up to.

Amazing to see the sea caves.

Stopped at a pottery store for coffee, scones, cream and jam.
Delicious and fabulous pottery

Filming of Star Wars was happening here.

On the top of this mountain and on the surrounding islands.

Everywhere is picturesque green with
stone fences covered with vegetation

The fences go up on the mountains or down to the ocean.

In the evening we attend the Irish concert at
St. James Church

The Uilleann Flute and a fabulous guitarist

It has bellows like the bagpipes.

I love the houses here with their colorful doors

On the way back to Dublin, we stopped at the Castle
in Newcastle West, county of Limerick,
and toured the medieval castle constructed in the 15th century

the Desmond Hall, great room.
Loved the pottery on the tables.

The face of the Lord's wife etched into stone

And then we stopped at Adare.
with it's so very cute thatched roof houses.
We felt like we were in a fairy tale

And lastly we stopped at the Desmond castle built in the 1300's
We were glad they let us enter.....

Amazing the stone steps.

And the details in the stone window openings.

The fabulous, green, lush countryside

Remarkable bridges.
