Dublin

Dublin Castle was our first stop in this wonderful city.

The curved stone is where the moat used to be.

The tower and stonework is amazing

Inside the church

And of course, the magnificent organ

Where the officials sat.

The rooms for entertaining.
The Queen has been hosted here.

The lovely crowned shape mirror showing the throne

The dining hall

We then walked the short way between Dublin Castle and Trinity College
On the walk you see so many ancient buildings.

The courtyard of Trinity College

Two fabulous trees grace the yard

The library is incredible.

The books are sorted by height.
Tall at the bottom, short ones on the top.

They got tired....

The Harp
~ the symbol of Ireland

I loved the long, long ladders.

We also saw the Book of Kells,
an illustrated book of the four gospels,
completed in 384 AD

Then time for tea & crumpets. (except we had coffee haha)

I just love the flowers here.
So beautiful!

Just walking down the street

We explored some museums.
Fascinating

Some were huge!

An Icelandic Falcon

The Dublin colorful doors

Just a bit of rain.....

.....Didn't diminish the beauty

Then on to St Patrick's Cathedral

Handel's Messiah was first performed here.

Amazing stained glass

A vicar from here.... might be a distant relative??

Walked from there to the Temple Bar area.

Pretty but a little chaotic for us.

Found a nice quiet restaurant to have supper.
Terry's Irish Stew and my fish & chips.
BUT, there are mushy peas in a Yorkshire pudding!
Delicious!

Checked out the River Liffey to end a wonderful day.
