Mid Summer Celebration

We arrived at Maria & Staffan's around two.
Irene & Karin had baked a lot in the morning.
I should have taken some pictures.
Fun to see the cinnamon buns, brownies and flans.
It was all very delicious!
We had fika as soon as we arrived!
Staffan's Mom made this cake.

Then the work began on the Mid Summer Pole

Maria & I gathered the wild flowers, the others tree branches
and more flowers from the yard

They twined it together on the pole
  Added the finishing touches

 And raised it

Many songs were sung and we danced around the pole.
A fun work-out.
Meanwhile folks were doing the Fika dishes in the kitchen.

Not one paper plate, cup or cutlery here!

Then some stiff competition in the yard ~
horseshoe throwing, hammering, crocket, soccer and corn throwing.
  Everyone competed.

A fabulous dinner in the big tent and
then folk songs sung around the table.

After all had left, the pole still stands
A wonderful celebration

Saturday morning we went to a special Mid Summer Service
 at the Dalby Church.
The church was built in 1291
