For our 41st Anniversary we decided to visit Miami, Florida. We wanted a couple of days on the beach and we had never been to Miami (seeing as we couldn't :( go back to Italy this year)
We got our coffee and headed out to the windy, but beautiful and hot beach.
We travel light but Elwood makes us some pretty amazing chairs.
People stopped both days to say how genius it was!

It was good we had good chairs because we spent the day watching the activity with this 2 year old beached, dead, sperm whale. Amazing! On Friday, they had dragged the whale fully onto the beach so they could study it. I understood they used a crane to drag it up!
It was huge!
And there was no swimming because on Friday,
there were many shark sightings. Uff da!
The marine biologists came in and surveyed the whale
and I guess, made a plan.
They took many tissue samples to try to discover why it had died.
They began the cut.
Uggggggghhhhhhhh....
Then with the help of a front end loader and a boat out in the ocean, they attempted to move the 20-30 ton whale. At times it looked like they were trying to move a gigantic bowl of jelly.
It took them hours to do this ~literally the whole afternoon!
This was not an easy task.
Success!! That is it floating in the water.

What an experience.
The next day, we went to a different beach and just sat and read all day.
It was wonderful.
We had a great anniversary weekend!
