Sienna

Sienna has a very unique church, Duomo di Sienna, made with black & white marble

The carousel looking pulpit.

The zebra stripes.  Also the wooden post beside Karin was used when
Florence was fighting for its independence from Rome. It was huge and very long.

The cathedral dome

Jeff trying to be spiderman and scale the wall.

We also saw this monk casually walking down the street
talking on his cell phone.

We needed a coffee break.  Ryan ordered an expresso.
It was very, very strong!

You pay more to sit & eat or drink your food.
This time we thought it was worth it.

Yuriko didn't. She stayed standing!

This is called Palio di Siena and it is on the Piazza del Campo.
Twice a year they have horse races right in the square.
Also the huge clock had the day of the month displayed as well!

It was wet & cold but we had such a good day

At times you felt like you were walking through an urban valley

We drove home and then went out for supper.  The place was very close to where we were staying and the owner stayed open just for us.  It was delicious ~ except for Erik's pigeon!

I absolutely loved the table setting.

I love seeing the inside of the OLD churches in Europe. They are amazing!
