Firenze, that is to say ~ Florence

We drove into Florence on Thursday morning.
We had a guided tour through the Accademia Gallery where Michaelangelo's masterpiece David.
David stands 14 feet tall and is carved from one solid piece of marble. He has his sling over his left shoulder and his stone in his right hand ~ ready to slay Goliath. Of course no photography was allowed in the gallery. Throughout Florence there are many copies of his statue.

Florence is very picturesque with many bridges over the Fiume Arno (Arno River), the most famous being the Butcher Bridge.  It is now filled with jewelry stores.

The shops and houses over the bridge

The city is full of statues.
 The statue of Neptune.

Elwood's favorite was Lorenzo the Magnificent.
Elwood would like you all to call him that from now on....
