Dala-Jarna

We attended the very same church that Grandpa Isal Larson attended.
It was built in 1822. It had a fire in 1978 and was restored again.
The cemetery is all around the church and we wandered through that with Rune and Matz. So much history and so many relatives. The location of the graves of Isal's parents are not known. There are some graves that are so old the writing is illegible. Probably they are buried there.

The very archway that Isal, as a boy, would have walked through.
It was confirmation Sunday and these young people were dressed in their traditional clothes, some for the area, some the national Swedish dress, some the Norwegian national dress.
One of the young soloists.
The flowered dress is the dress for Dala-Jarna region.
Our two pews full of relatives.
Kan du talar Svenska?
Rune and some of his wonderful family.
We were sorry we missed meeting Anders.
Our meal together at a wonderful quaint restaurant.

The salmon was incredible! As was the first course of salads, pickled herring, and a variety of breads. Coffee and a strawberry torte finished the meal. Delicious!
The red berries are Lingonberries. Of course!
Rae gave a speech
Then Elwood & Rune gave a speech.
It was very moving and very special.

Each family had a mountain house where they moved their cattle to in the summer.
Here is the mountain house where Isal would have been.

The inside is still intact.

A cradle ready for a baby.
Ltosta's mountain house
Matz and his dad and Rae. Matz did so much research
and drove us around for two days. He was a tremendous help.
Leaving the Plaque at the Old Cellar
Arriving back at Rune's home
Rune has so much family information and was our contact with all of the relatives here and drove us around for two days. We couldn't have met so many if it wasn't for him.
Tack so Mycket to both Rune and Matz!
