Japan - Tokyo

Erik & Yuriko met us at the airport!

It was so great to see them!

Tokyo has the feel of New York's Time Square in places....

And the feel of ancient Japan in other areas.

The wooden hanging notes are prayers written

and hung in the Buddhist temple. The little white notes at

the back on the left are the same thing.

Yuriko's great uncle Shuji and Aunt Akie took us out for

a fabulous lunch and then back to their home for coffee.

We had such a wonderful time with such

wonderful people. We hope we meet again.

Saw our first Bamboo trees. So tall and straight.

The fence around this area was made all out of bamboo.

Also my first experience driving on the 'wrong' side

of the road. What a feeling!

And in our first hotel ( and every hotel we stayed in),

we were greeted with slippers to wear, pajamas laid out

for both of us and of course, a note written in English.

The next morning we got up early and headed out

to the Fish Auction and markets. Incredible!

These are tuna and sell for thousands of dollars,

some for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Every day.

Yes, yes we did go to a Sushi bar and yes, we ate sashami. Thanks Vincent! This Sushi Bar is very famous in Tokyo. We lined up for 1 hour to get in at 7 am, and the girl sitting beside Elwood had flown in from Korea just to eat at this Sushi bar.

Elwood could not get over their electrical wires.

You saw this in a lot of places, not just one.

We loved the trains and subway system in Tokyo and Japan.

It is amazing. Very clean and very easy to use and extremely efficient.
