Beijing. China - Forbidden City

Walking to the Forbidden City or Palace as it is sometimes called.

The main entrance

The Palace covers a a number of city blocks covering an area of .28 sq acres and is made up of 17 palaces, numerous other buildings and many huge courtyards. Royalty use to live here and the general public was forbidden to enter it, hence the name.
It is listed as a World Heritage Site.

Many, many buildings - all very ornate.

Enormous walls.

Right in front of the Forbidden City is Tinanmen Square
- a huge park, but more concrete than grass.
The police presence is very noticeable.
The garbage truck.

for everything and anything!
The morning we left Beijing a sand storm covered the city.
It was filthy. You could hardly see across the street.
The driver cleaned his taxi with a long feather duster!
And the sand could be seen on the wings of the plane.
Starting our long journey home.
The beginning of our long trip. Although we left Saturday morning
and arrived home Saturday evening, even though our travels were 28 hours!
It was great to arrive home and be greeted
by our wonderful family.
But Sunday morning we woke to this! Ha ha!
